OMG... this thing works great. Heavy? Yes. Built well. Designed well. I love this thing. Warning,... plane your boards somewhere where its ok to have chips flying around. Or better yet... make yourself a chip catcher. This thing blows the chips out on its own. No need to have a vacuum attached. And the smoothness of the end product is excellent. Pricey? Maybe, but you get what you pay for.

I wanted a supplemental planer for doing smaller detailed jobs in my shop. Based on the features listed by DeWalt a decided to purchase this unit. It provides silky smooth, accurate cuts right out of the box. The advanced features of the turret stop is nice for doing repetitive thick material. Highly recommend this planer. Shaving extraction fan is a terrific feature, be aware that with larger woodworking tools eye and hearing protection is a must.

Works perfectly. I'm not a professional wood worker by any means. But this planer has worked flawlessly for my needs. I make light passes like no more than 1/32 at a time and only switch speeds while it's running. I have a cheap shop fox dust collector hooked up which helps because it throws chips pretty far without it. I do get significant sniping. Haven't figured out a way to avoid it. But I plan accordingly and cut the last 4 inches off each end. I've used it with soft pine, poplar, walnut, birch and even took a little off a 12 inch piece of birch plywood when I was messing around with it. The infeed and out feed shelves aren't perfectly flat but it's stamped metal so i can't expect perfection. It's not like this is a $6k industrial machine. I'm completely satisfied with it.

Definitely use this thing outside. I practiced on several small boards and had shavings covering half of my driveway... lol. looked like snow. So far so good. Runs smooth and after cutting a dozen boards to edge them and planed to thickness they were repeatable and consistent...

It's a breeze to set up and use. Yes it's heavy, 80 pounds or so and I had no help to mount it on the stand. So being innovative I have an elevating cart. Placed the planer on the card and I just jacked it level and slid the planer across. Calibration was easy with a snap of similar wood stock. It's worth the price.

This is a great planer for softwoods. Every tool has its place I build custom cabinets and furniture for a living. A lot of my products use hardwood and I was hopeful that this machine would suit my needs it did not. It hates hardwood just taking off a 1/32 or 1/16 it trips the neutral safety switch. I have replaced 3 and now it doesn't work at all. If you plan on running Pine, Cedar, Hemlock or Hardwood occasionally being very careful. This is a great option if you need something more heavy duty and you are running hardwood all the time. I advise you too find a heavier duty planer. I plan on buying a Grizzly 15 heavy duty myself. I hope this helps some people avoid the mistake I made and make a good purchase. Along with skills tools for us contractors and craftsman are essential too our business and will determine how successfully a job is executed.

Great planer if you get this one you will not regret, it did come with a bent folding table, I have gotten with Dewalt to get a replacement and time will tell how good there customer service is. I have ran 100 board feet of cypress thru it and the finish is great. This is a great planer had a Ryobi before this and it was junk, 6 months after I bought it I could not get any parts for it. This new planer is been around for a while so I don't think that parts will ever be a problem. Build is very beefy and it is heavy. But that is what you want for a planner. Very little snipe and I contribute that to the bent table that was on the outset table. It is noisy so but you some ear muffs but all planets make a lot of noise. Set mine up on a stand with wheels so I can move it around in the shop with little effort.

With today's administration, lumber prices are terrible. With this machine, you can take old lumber and make it look new again. Works fantastically and is worth the money.

I love everything about this planer. After using a Porter Cable Planer for years I upgraded to this 735 I rigged a diy dust collector up and after planing a chainsaw cut plank only a few flakes of sawdust. The white oak plank was ready for finishing. Not anywhere near as loud as the PC. Highly recommend

Little known fact: DW735X includes a chip blower driven by the same 15 amp motor that drives the cutter head. You don't need a shop vac or other vacuum motor to collect chips and dust. What a great deal: a planer and a dust collector on the same 15 amp circuit !! I used 4 inch 26 gauge galvanized steel adjustable elbows and 4 snap lock pipe, 4 thumbscrew clamps, a 55 gallon steel barrel and a dust bag on the barrel outlet (almost nothing makes it out of the barrel to the dust bag) to collect chips and dust. Added bonus: one of the planer motor screws and a short piece of wire with a ring terminal can be used to static ground the dust collection system. Not getting periodic high voltage static shocks: priceless !!Other stuff: Dewalt should provide a factory DRO option. Yeah, it is loud. Wear ear protection.
