Mission: Harc was founded in 1951 by parents and friends of children with intellectual disability. At that time few community programs were available and children were almost always referred to an institution. Throughout the years HARC maintains a family focus in both its array of programs and governance structure. Raising children is among life?s greatest joys and privileges. Creating new family visions and meeting their unanticipated challenges associated with developmental disabilities are achieved with HARC?s help. Our mission is to help people with intellectual and related disabilities and their families enjoy lives of quality, inclusion and dignity by providing support, education, and advocacy.
