The theme of the Harry Potter movies translates wonderfully in this deck building cooperative card game. The game slowly increments the introduction of rules over the course of sequential playthroughs represented by each Hogwarts school year. The difficulty balance of the game is inconsistent depending on which villains are drawn first but easily remedied with some house rules.

Great game! Especially for HP fans. It’s like a board game and card game combined. It’s difficult to start, but once you get the hang of it it’s a lot of fun. I recommend anyone under 12 play with adults to help with interpreting the rules. You work together in this game to defeat villains such as Malfoy, Barty Crouch Jr, dementors, etc. You can be Harry, Hermoine, Ron, or Neville. You attend 7 years in this game and each year becomes more challenging. You can’t finish in one sitting which is why each year comes in it’s own little card box. As Ron would say it’s bloody brilliant.

If you are fan of Harry Potter and like board games my opinion is you will like this. I've only played this with my wife, therefore, it was two people against the game. The first 2-3 decks/adventures are fairly easy. I believe it is the fourth deck/adventure where it got much harder and we beat it only 1 out of 4 times so far. We haven't tried the other decks yet. Depending on how the non-playing villain's cards are shuffled and turned over can make the game easy or downright HARD. I would assume playing 3-4 players makes the game much easier, but its a fun challenge. We sit with our Harry Potter wands and 'cast' the spells when we play a spell card. I'd estimate the first few decks take less than an hour, but the fourth deck (the ones that introduce the dice) is taking at least 90 minutes of casual play. Replay value is high as it all depends on which cards you choose to add to your play deck. You may go a few games without seeing the powerful cards again, or your team mate may take that card and make it unavailable for you to use.

My DD received this as a gift from a friend who is a serious board game enthusiast. I am not a HP fan, and neither is the rest of our family... but we are addicted to this awesome game!!! You dont need to know anything about the HP Universe to play it, but my DD, a huge HP fan loves feeling like she's immersed in the world of HP as we play, and we feel like it's a creative, interesting and challenging game, regardless of the HP references. Love it!

Great for a night in or game night. The different years add an interesting element to the game and chance keeps it from getting stale. Great for casual or devoted HP fans alike. My boyfriend and I play it all the time.

Great game! I wouldn't expect much from a licensed board game (they tend to suck), but this one is SO MUCH FUN. Great cooperative deck-building game that proves to be rather difficult at times. It's not Arkham Horror level in difficulty, but it's certainly not Candyland (no offense to Candyland lovers). Oddly, the game comes with beautiful metal villain location markers (similar to the doom track in Arkham Horror and its ilk) while the rest of the materials use photos from the films. Don't get me wrong, the rest of the materials aren't 34;bad34; or poor quality; it's just that these location markers stand out from the rest.

This game is ridiculously fun!!!! I love everything Harry Potter, but I usually don't like deck building games. This one is very fun, even with only two people!! I love it.
