Results: Health And Nutrition Development Society (HANDS) started its formal journey of intervention from a public sector hospital in Karachi as Health And Nutrition Project in 1979 lead by the then Head of Department of Pediatrics Civil Hospital Karachi, Professor A. G. Billoo (Sitara-e-Imtiaz). In a long journey of 36 years based on pure dedication, sincerity, enthusiasm, endless efforts and hard work HANDS has evolved as one of the largest Non Profit Organization of the country and depicts an excellent model of community development. HANDS has access to more than 25 million population in more than 42,000 villages in 48 districts. HANDS have field/ organizational offices in 04 Provinces Sindh, Punjab, Baluchistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK). HANDS is also certified by Pakistan Center for Philanthropy (PCP) and is tax exempted by Income tax department Government of Pakistan. HANDS has also successfully completed the Institutional Management Certification Program (IMCP) of USAID for management standards. We are accredited with European Union and have central contractor registration with US Government (DUNS No. ). HANDS also possess membership with Humanitarian Accountability Partnership (HAP). HANDS have vast experience in project administration and financial management. HANDS have successfully managed 579 projects during last 22 years. The management of HANDS strongly feels that it is the core responsibility for all of us to prevent and alleviate human suffering wherever it may be found without the distinction of color, class or creed (impartiality), to protect life and health and ensure respect for the human being. Concluding Remarks: HANDS values partnership and relation with “sovereignty of and equity” The values of HANDS are based on mutual trust, honesty, professionalism and transparency. HANDS development process “value” is based on an understanding of roles and responsibilities which includes accountability, ethnic impartiality and effective participation. We at HANDS believe that as a citizen of this country everyone should have access to basic rights and discharge their obligation with same fervor. HANDS as a strong development institution have become one of the important service providers in the country where the government is unable to fulfill its traditional role. HANDS is proud to possess a capable core team that could respond to any disaster in the hour of need for emergency relief. The relief services include all aspects like restoration of livelihood, housing, infrastructure, health and education etc. for the affected communities.
