Mission: Healthy Birth Day, Inc. informs and empowers moms to save their babies. Our mission is to dramatically reduce the number of stillbirths through the Count the Kicks public health awareness campaign.

Results: Count the Kicks was launched in Iowa in 2008.In that time, Iowa's stillbirth rate went down nearly 28 percent, according to the CDC, while the rest of the country remained relatively stagnant. While Obstetricians have believed in the importance of kick counting for decades, we are the only organization in the U. S. to create a campaign focused solely on tracking fetal movement in the third trimester. We have created the educational tools and resources for providers, the free (and we believe most comprehensive) Count the Kicks app, and the free digital tools accessible to everyone on our website. "Let me talk about what life was like before Count the Kicks. We knew as physicians that tracking baby’s movement in the third trimester was important. But we didn’t have the ability to get that word out on a consistent basis to both patients and physicians. So we did our best within our office to get that information out to patients but we didn’t have the app, or the brochures to put up in our office and to hand to patients. There is no doubt that Count the Kicks was critically important in reducing the stillbirth rate here in Iowa and I am sure it’s going to do the same across the country and around the world, ” said Dr. Neil Mandsager, Medical Director of Perinatal Center of Iowa in Des Moines during a press conference in 2017.
