These definitely reduce the pain from my base of thumb arthritis by stabilizing my thumbs, but the hook and loop connections lose their gripping strength after about 2 months. They changed the type of hook and loop connectors about 2 years ago. They used to use something very similar to velcro and it worked much better for a much longer time. Now, it's a cheap imitation that is far inferior to what they used to use.
