Mission: The Youth Initiative High School was created in 1996 by a group of high school students and their families. The students were seeking both an active role in their own education and a curriculum that addressed their needs as individuals about to become adult participants in society. YIHS fills those needs by offering courses that address head, heart and hands and by requiring that students take active roles in the school governance and organization.
