Mission: Homework Hotline’s mission is to help Tennessee students in grades K-12 learn, understand and complete challenging assignments, and master new concepts through free one-on-one tutoring by phone and online chat.

Results: Since 1990, Hotline has provided over 550,000 individualized tutoring sessions. From August to May, Hotline is open 4 hours after school Monday through Thursday and offers free, one-on-one tutoring by phone and online chat to K-12 TN students and guardians. During sessions, students can text Hotline pictures of assignments, visually work problems in online whiteboards, or share essays digitally. Online chat allows students who are hard of hearing or unable to access a telephone to use Hotline. During the 2019-20 school year, Hotline completed 11,360 tutoring sessions with 6,159 students and their parents/guardians.

Programs: Homework Hotline provides free tutoring for all K-12 TN students over the telephone or online chat. Students can text images of assignments, use an online whiteboard in real-time with their tutor, and share essays digitally. Hotline hires certified teachers who can also tutor in Spanish, Arabic, Farsi, Hindi, Swahili, and Mandarin. Hotline Scholars are high school students who volunteer at Hotline and receive mentoring with college essays and applications and the ability to receive a $1000 scholarship towards college.
