Hound Rescue also assists with rescue and placement of other hound breeds (e. g. basset hounds, bloodhounds, ridgebacks).

Target demographics: Save at risk Beagles and small hounds from euthanasia in rural shelters.

Direct beneficiaries per year: over 35 dogs find a new forever home and helped several pass with love and dignity.

Programs: Getting a hound ready to be adopted is a major expense. Each hound that we rescue is given vaccinations, heartworm tested, spayed or neutered, dewormed, and microchipped. If the hound needs treatment for heartworms, we provide that as well at a cost of $200 or more, depending on the weight of the dog. We also provide any other medical care necessary for the dogs, which often includes treatment for kennel cough, skin problems, and other illness, and for older hounds, we sometimes need to provide dental cleanings or tumor removals.
