Target demographics: Providing loving homes for thousands of abandoned, neglected and abused companion animals each year with physical, medical, and behavioral care.

Geographic areas served: The Humane Society of Central Oregon’s mission is to strengthen the human-animal bond by advocating and compassionately caring for pets and their people through a variety of programs and services including sheltering and providing medical care for vulnerable animals, spaying and neutering and feeding pets.

Programs: Animal care and adoptions: for the fiscal year ending june 30,2018, the humane society of central oregon cared for 2913 animals. As the area's only open admission shelter, we take in surrendered and stray animals from the tri-county area and beyond. We also worked with local and interstate agencies to transfer in 413 animals and place them in adoptive homes. Through the dedication of our staff, volunteers and community we are able to place 91% of animals into caring homes this year. We calculate this number according to nationally recognized methods of asilomar accords and the american society of the prevention of cruelty to animals (aspca).

our thrift store operations continue to grow and was awarded the best thrift store for the fourth year in a row by the source readers.

medical procedures performed by our veterinarians include 1,252 spay and neuter surgeries, 2,664 medical exams and check-ups, and 372 specialized surgeries or procedures to increase the adoptability of animals.
