If I had to do it over again, I would have bought a window a/c to cool my 700 sq ft living room. I just didn't want to install a window a/c because I wouldn't be able to open the window. Not being very handy, I watched a youtube video as the directions in the box weren't very good. I learned to cut the box at the bottom to remove it so that I didn't have to lift the a/c out of the box (ok, duh, I know). Then, the plastic insert that goes in the window was too long, so I cut off 1 with a hacksaw. The video showed how you put insulation tape around the insert, which didn't come with the a/c, so off I went to Home Depot to buy the tape. Because the sliding window is 5 ft. from the floor, I had a very hard time connecting the hose from the a/c unit to the insert. It kept popping out, so now I will need to buy some duct tape I think to keep it on. The air that comes out of the unit is very cool, and if I sit right in front of it, it's great. But it definitely doesn't cool the room like I'd hoped.
