Looks like i got a refurbished unit at full retail price. It came with scratches. Since it works well i'll keep it but this retailer lost a customer.

This product works pretty well. I have the 14,000 BTU for my 2 car garage. This product will cool down a section of the garage but I wish I would have gone with a high BTU to combat these hot summers.

People are telling the truth about the heat coming from the vent hose. Both where it connects to the unit and the window outlet. Gaps and thin hose need improvement. I put some aluminum tape at the connection ends which took some delicate care not to punch holes in the hose. It helps a lot. But geeze they ought to permanently affix the hose to the unit and the vent/window piece so that hot air doesn't escape, and they should use an insulated hose. As to the noise, well, it is loudish, but I'll take that over being hot. Overall I'm happy I bought the unit.

Overall really good. Thought it would be a little more powerful, but we live in an old poorly insulated building, so it's doing its best, especially with some box fans helping to spread the cold air around.

If I had to do it over again, I would have bought a window a/c to cool my 700 sq ft living room. I just didn't want to install a window a/c because I wouldn't be able to open the window. Not being very handy, I watched a youtube video as the directions in the box weren't very good. I learned to cut the box at the bottom to remove it so that I didn't have to lift the a/c out of the box (ok, duh, I know). Then, the plastic insert that goes in the window was too long, so I cut off 1 with a hacksaw. The video showed how you put insulation tape around the insert, which didn't come with the a/c, so off I went to Home Depot to buy the tape. Because the sliding window is 5 ft. from the floor, I had a very hard time connecting the hose from the a/c unit to the insert. It kept popping out, so now I will need to buy some duct tape I think to keep it on. The air that comes out of the unit is very cool, and if I sit right in front of it, it's great. But it definitely doesn't cool the room like I'd hoped.

I have a 980 square foot apartment. This A/C unit kept my apartment cool in the 90 degree summer heat. The A/C unit is quiet and extremely energy efficient. I left the A/C unit on all day and most of the night and my electric bill only fluctuated by $20!

Overall, I really like this portable air conditioner. I will say initially that the tube for the vent is a bit hard to attach but when she figure it out it is easy to set up and move around as needed. The biggest thing keeping this from five stars is the display. The blue digital display is so bright that it disturbs my sleep at night. I have to lay a towel or sock on top of the display to block the light. When I say bright, I mean like your body will think it's morning bright. Considering many people would put something like this in their bedroom potentially it would be good if the manufacturer dimmed the lights or made a nighttime dim setting.

This cools small spaces quickly. But be prepared, it's very loud. Also it has an exhaust hose that must go out a window or pet door.It helps some in open floor plans, but is best in smaller rooms. Good backup when your central air goes out.

I like that it is also a dehumidifier. Basement is a little big, but it keeps humidity in check.

Very simple set up and ease of use. Included all parts for set up. Self Evaporation is great, as The unit requires very little maintenance.I needed it for 2 bedrooms on a temporary basis (my central air blew). It is important to size properly. The 10,000 BTU unit is actually equivalent to 5,500 BTU.I would recommend!

Overall easy to use and set up. I noticed that the foam window tape provided with the unit probably is unnecessary. The vent air exits with enough force that even without little in the way of waste heat gets back into the house. On taller windows that slide horizontally, set up might be a bit challenging as the window block might not be tall enough. On narrow vertical sliding windows the block with the oval vent cutout is too short to cover the distance but with an insert / extender piece added the setup is too long. A simple piece of cardboard shoved in as part of the block fills the gap. We live in CA where it is not excessively hot or humid... running it in August for a few hours produces maybe 1/4-1/2 cup of drain water. No big deal. The unit is a bit heavy to lift if needing to move it up or down stairs. In use, the 14k btu unit seems to draw a bit below about a half kw per hour. Overall, well constructed, works well, no major complaints. Very happy.

I have a very old 5,000 btu wall unit more than 20 years old for my bedroom that doesn't work well when the humidity is high outside. I couldn't find another wall unit that would fit the current opening so I opted for a portable one instead. The unit is quiet on all settings and it cools well in normal temperatures but not very good when it's high humidity outside. I had to use the old wall unit. I can't rate the efficiency yet because I haven't had the unit long enough to compare to see if there is any savings. But considering that the unit turns off when the selected temperature is met and turns back on when the temperature starts to rise in the room were as my old unit did not there is a savings in that aspect.

This little unit packs a wallop. Cools effectively. I followed the instructions and left it upright for 24 hours before using it. I wasn't sure how well it would cool the air, but it's great. My home HVAC quit working and the entire unit needed to be replaced. I lease my condo, and the whole process to get the A/C replaced took almost two weeks. In Florida. In the summer. This made it livable.

Would've rated 4 or 5 stars but after only having this for 5 weeks the buttons on the unit itself have stopped working and I can only control it with the remote.
