I bought this tool to remove a tubing nut that was only accessible with a 2 sided open end wrench. I was able to get a good 3 sided grip on the nut which was what i was after. However, in spite of having a good grip i was still unable to turn the nut no matter how hard I pulled. I ended up cutting the tube out with a hacksaw and then putting the part in a vice and then i needed a torch to heat it up, an 18 pipe wrench with a 2 foot extension on it to finally get that nut to turn. So i guess it is a good tool but not up to the task i had in mind so into the tool box it goes to wait for another opportunity to prove its usefulness.

Without this flare nut vice grip (and a dead blow mallet) I would not have been able to replace my brake hoses. This tool is absolutely necessary. It is just the right size to fit the flare nuts on smaller brake lines on classic cars. If it were larger I would not have been able to rotate it to loosen/tighten the flare nuts.I had tried and failed to loosen the flare nuts with regular vice grips and a flare nut wrench, but only started stripping the nut. I paired these vice grips with a dead blow hammer and a crescent wrench, and made short work it.

I have two Vise Grip LW pliers and an acetylene wrench. The three have cured my cussing. Anyone who works on automobiles or plumbing should have these tools. Especially if they live in the rust belt where road salt is used. If you don't work on exhaust systems you probably don't need the acetylene wrench. But if you work on brakes or work with soft brass flare fittings the LW Vise Grips sure come in handy. I have both the 4LW and the 7LW. The 4LW is 4 inches and works with 1/4” to 9/16” nuts/bolts. The 7LW at 7” is good for 7/16” to 3/4”. There is also a 10LW. If I worked on farm or construction equipment I would have that size also. These pliers are a little clunky and don't fit into tight spaces but for most jobs work well. If space allows they work better than a flare nut wrench.

So I read online that this is the best break line tool. It is. I had rusted on seized bleeder screws. When I was about to burn it all down I used this and it worked. Buy it and save yourself some trouble. Plus it is cute...

Bought this tool by recommendation of a coworker for front end alignments on cars and trucks. This tool works perfect for locking onto inner tie rods and making adjustments, especially when the inner tie rod is slightly seized to the outer tie rod. There is quite a lot of adjustment and I have yet to come across an inner tie rod this will not fit. For the price it is hard to beat.

Worked amazing for some stubborn flare nuts. Worked better than using flare nut wrenches!
