This pump works pretty well. I highly recommend placing a strainer and a one-way check valve before the pump unit. I had to change the impeller every month or so for the first year I used it because of the dry run time between when the pump starts and when the water reaches the pump (I have a deep bilge). After installing the check valve the run time greatly decreased and I've been on the same impeller for a few months. If you're relying on this pump buy several extra impellers and have them on hand. They tend to spontaneously disintegrate after a while. I've had several events where the impeller fails then the pump keeps running while the bilge slowly floods. I have a high water alarm thankfully but it is a risk. With that being said, I've literally tried every option and this is the best, as long as you're using a stainer and check valve. I hope this review is helpful.
