Mission: Jewish family service ("jfs") is a nonprofit social service organization that serves individuals from all denominations. We strengthen individuals and families and educate communities through counseling, care management, and community education. Our programs serve a diverse population and are tailored to specific needs, concerns, and circumstances. Jfs's highly qualified professional staff has the capability of working with teens and seniors, refugees and students, families in need of counseling, and families interested in volunteering. Jfs is able to provide a very professional level of support to those in need in the jewish and the greater salt lake communities. They serve as our arm in reaching out to the community at large and are committed to preserving human dignity, " says rabbi tracee rosen of salt lake's congregation kol ami. Programs: See schedule o during 2017, jfs maintained all existing programs and services. Aging services: jfs provided care planning, care management, respite care, music and memory, friendly visitors and counseling to clients. The "lunch bunch" program serves as an excellent outreach tool. Music and memory program addresses the needs of those with alzheimer's disease and other forms of dementia by providing personalized music that they listen to on an ipod. This program was originally developed by a social worker for nursing home residents and jfs is one of the first community based agencies to bring it to individuals in their own homes. Approximately 578 people received older adult services such as music & memory, lunch bunch, care management and help with access to snap.

counseling services: jfs provides in both our salt lake city and park city, utah offices counseling to individuals, couples and families. The organization uses an outcome measurement tool, the oq-45, which measures symptoms of distress, interpersonal relationships and social rolls. This serves as a great tool for both the client and counselors. In 2017,2500 units of counseling were provided to 500 individuals. The parenting plus program assists families with relationship and parenting skills. This program also includes concurrent programming for their children and a communal family dinner. This program is primarily targeted to low income families.

tanf: provided a program to families building relationship skills within the family structure to approximately 166 individuals.

other: respite care and emergency assistance - this is direct financial assistance and services that help caregivers in need of support and families/individuals in need of food, rent, utilities, car repairs and medications. Community lecture series - these lectures include topics such as bullying, the challenges and opportunities of care giving, raising financially responsible children, device addiction and cognitive health. The lectures are a great way for outreach into the community. Over 5000 individuals used the food pantry, we provided three community lectures and four interns received training towards master and doctoral degrees.
