Causes: Animal Protection & Welfare, Animals

Mission: Jumping H Farm Re3 Adoption and Therapy is dedicated to Rehabilitating, Retraining, and Rehoming horses in need of a Second Career. While we do focus on OTTB (Off the Track Thoroughbreds) who can no longer race, we also work with local law enforcement and other agencies to care for horses that have been abused, surrendered, and in need of a soft place to land. JHF Re3 Adoption and Therapy is a 501c non-profit

Results: Since 2014 we have adopted out 50 horses to new homes and careers. We are a GuideStar gold member non-profit that dedicates 100% of our donations and proceeds back into the program to benefit our horses and youth.

Target demographics: Our goal is to bring awareness to the versatility of the thoroughbred breed with education and awareness. We rehabilitate, retrain, and rehome retired racehorses for new careers.

Geographic areas served: We work in the foothills of North Carolina.

Programs: JHF Re3 Youth Sponsorship program works in conjunction with Jumping H Farm’s regular lesson program. All donations are tax deductable under JHF RE3 Adoption and Therapy program, which is a 501(c)(3) non-profit. We have students from different ages and backgrounds who come together for a common goal, their love and passion for learning about horses. Riding lessons include so much more than just learning to sit on the back of a horse and trot around the ring for 45 minutes; these youth form a bond. Whether a student pays for lessons or is a part of our sponsorship program, students also work to ride -- we call it our “sweat equity program. ” They learn to work as a team to see to the needs of each horse on the farm – stall maintenance, grooming, proper feeding and nutrition, and first aid. It is all a part of horsemanship and the stewardship of caring for these animals. For years Equines have been used in youth programs all over the United states to promote physical, occupational and emotional growth that translates metaphorically into everyday life. Confidence, trust, communication, patience, responsibility, social skills, focus, and affection are just a few of the life skills people learn when coming to Re3.
