Mission: The junior league of omaha, inc. Is an organization of women committed to promoting voluntarism, developing the potential of women and improving communities through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers.

Programs: The organization's top program consists of providing training and education to all league members which encompasses the organization's mission to promote voluntarism, develop the potential of women and improve communities through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers. Membership is open to all women, at least 21 years old, who are committed to voluntarism. The league involves and engages its members in a variety of volunteer service, skill building and networking opportunities. These opportunities allow members to build skills professionally and personally, learn more about the omaha community and make an impact on its issues, network and make new connections and friendships, plan and organize events and/or fundraisers, develop leadership skills, gain a better understanding of nonprofit work, and join a committee which aligns with strengths and interests. Included within the league's membership program are training and mentorship. The league's training program was created to plan and conduct training activities for all members of the junior league of omaha. The league's training curriculum focuses on life, league and leadership topics include meeting management, communication styles, board service, personal enrichment and professional development. The league's mentorship program was created for the purpose of engaging and retaining current members in the league. The mentorship program's goals are to engage/involve members in their first and second active years through the use of mentors who can share their experiences and offer guidance and to keep more members active and interested in their league membership by helping them engage in league social events and volunteer opportunities.

a book of my own is the league's literacy project. A book of my own's goal is to ensure that all children in the omaha area have a book of their own at home to promote literacy and help break the cycle of poverty. The league purchases and collects new and gently-used books and partners with community organizations, schools and churches to distribute the books to underserved children ages 0-18.Since the project's inception in 2011, the league has distributed over 80,000 books in the omaha community and worked with more than 70 community partners.

project hope pack has impacted thousands of children by distributing backpacks full of necessities and comfort items to children ages 3-18 who are taken out of crisis situations. In most situations, these children are taken from their homes and are given a trash bag to gather any belongings they can carry. The league's project hope pack provides filled backpacks to numerous local child advocacy agencies to be given out to children at the time of their intake interview. In addition to providing essential hygiene items these backpacks are a sign of hope to boost children's spirits in hard times.

other program services include providing scholarships and community assistance grants. Each may, the junior league of omaha awards scholarships to a select number of female high school seniors who demonstrate outstanding volunteer performance in the community. Each may, the junior league of omaha also awards a select number of community assistance grants to local nonprofit organizations for programs or projects aligned with the league's mission and focus areas.
