Mission: Bringing a mix of play and researched interventions alive, Just Speak empowers young people with resiliency skills, building trauma-informed schools and healthier communities.

Results: After, answering the call of students in academic crisis during the COVID-19 pandemic by offering virtual assistance, we are facilitating our first summer program in partnership with a Detroit charter school in 2021.Just Speak is the recipient of the Governor's Award for Outstanding Volunteer Program, MOVE dance program was selected for the 2019 Sidewalk Festival, ad the 2020 Nonprofits in Action 2020 Design Showcase. Our MOVE programs will be featured in a window display. MOVE is now an after school program with Goal LINE Detroit. We launched our storytelling series, Starting Point in 2018 to promote healing in the Detroit community.

Target demographics: children and youth build resilience and coping skills, adults learn to build trauma-informed spaces for children, and the community heal from trauma

Direct beneficiaries per year: our middle school girls strengthen their coping, build confidence, and self regulate and modify negative behavior, while achieving first and second place in their first dance competition.

Geographic areas served: Southeastern Michigan

Programs: MOVE -movement therapy, resilience building, and mindfulness. We also offer training to school and youth centered program administrators, and anyone who works alongside children and youth to provide trauma-informed programs in a safe space. Lastly, our storytelling series, Starting Point allows adults to find healing through sharing their stories in a safe space.
