Programs: KHS is the only open-admission animal shelter on the island of Kauai. We care for owner surrender and stray animals until they are able to find their forever homes on Kauai or transfer to our rescue partners on the mainland. KHS is more than just a shelter housing animals. KHS offers low cost spay & neuter services to the community, low cost microchip and vaccine clinics, humane education & critter camps, as well as an extremely popular Field Trip program where visitors and locals can take a shelter dog out for the day. KHS also operates the Save our Shearwaters program, a program dedicated to rescuing and rehabilitating native Hawaiian birds. KHS depends heavily on volunteer and donor support for our operations. We are incredibly grateful to receive such support from our local community as well as visitors from across the world.
