We have a home built in 2003, and the original alarms had finally given out. New batteries were not enough at this point, and the devices kept squawking.We didn't want to re-wire the whole device, and bought this to just replace the smoke detector part and did not use the hard-wire portion (the backing of the device that connects to the ceiling). I was worried I wouldn't be able to find this exact model, since it's old, but it works great and is at a fair price.

Fit rite on my 20 year old USI 1204 bases so it was just plug play. Came with new base as well but just more work to use them. Old base and new sensor were slightly different shades of off white. not too noticeable from a few feet away. Nice and loud. AC 9Volt B/U. Less than 10 min, to change all 5. Just twist left drop unplug, ( no lock just pull straight back) only goes one way color will line up plug new one in align,push turn right, see green light ,push button test loud beeps ( Ear protection advised ) done. repeat on next one!! you can buy cheaper ones but way more work! ordered Sunday afternoon came in and installed Monday afternoon. I ordered 9v battery's but it comes with a new one installed just pull the tab. only bad thing is it was stamped made in 2020 so already 2 years old? I would buy again.

These were purchased as a separate purchase to add to another set of 4. I wish they had a pack of six to begin with to save a little more on their purchase. All in all great value for the money.

a perfect replacement for the unit that is no longer in production. perfect fit and correct electrical connections. mine original needed to be replaced when the flimsy backup battery holder of the OEM unit from 2006 gave up and couldn't be repaired to make it functional.

We had all five of our USI 1204 detectors fail at once as they were manufactured in August 2005 and had more than reached their end of life of 10 years. So I decided to order the four pack and see how they would perform before buying a single fifth detector.After unpacking each detector and removing the protective shield, I removed and tested each 9 volt battery with my DMM and found them all to be 10 vdc or greater.I then proceeded to install four of the five USI 1204 detectors that needed replacement in our home. Each installation was plug and play since I was just replacing the detectors and not the whole assembly. Each detector came on-line and performed as expected.The manufacturing date printed on the bottom of each detector was April of 2020 so they should be good until 2030. Now to buy just one more to replace the fifth detector.

As the new regulation requires that the smoke detectors older than 10 years can no longer used, I purchased this brand because my old ones were the same brand and I do not want to spend time to replace the entire mounting base. The package design is perfectly the same so it only took me a minute to replace each.
