t is a product of good design, but unfortunately of very little durability. This would be the third one I would buy. The first one I bought lasted a long time. At that time, there was the metal option, I'm very sorry I didn't buy it. Now I can't find it on the market. The second one its durability was very short. I don't sure if I'm going to buy the third one. I would have to prepare myself for its short duration. I am still looking for other options that satisfy me. I think that the company knows about the poor quality, and even so they do not strive to improve. that's not fair and at the same time it's our fault because knowing the poor quality, we continue buying it

I had used one of these for years (even gluing the body back together) but eventually a key piece broke off of the pusher mechanism, so I had to buy a new one. I use butter frequently but not every day, so I don't like to have a butter dish out all the time, just to have it convenient for cutting a bit off. This tool has worked great for me, fitting my needs. However, the one I received recently seems to be made of slightly weaker plastic and to less stringent specifications - the pusher has to be in exactly the right angle or it gets stuck, and the upper part with the wire cutter gets hung up on one side after nearly every cut. To get it to work, it needs much more attention than the previous model. Such a simple thing. Too bad, it seems corners are being cut in manufacture or assembly.

I grew up using a tool identical to this one, from Pampered Chef. That thing lasted my entire childhood. I moved out and went to get one for myself, only Pampered Chef didn't make them anymore! I searched and searched, and celebrated when I finally found this one. The hunt was over! I bought it and figured that was that.It lasted about a year before it broke. I bought another one, because I just can't live without one of these.That one lasted a few months before it broke.Rinse and repeat. I've probably bought 4 of these things in the last 6 years. They're worth every penny, but I sure do wish they wouldn't keep breaking!

This is my second purchase. My first one wore out from frequent use. Indispensable for accurate measurements in recipes.

I wanted an easy way to dispense a set amount of real butter that would melt quickly. I was using spreadable butter but it does not taste as good due to the additives that make it spreadable.This gadget is so convenient and well-designed. You press the end that says PRESS, it undoes the end cover and the wire cutter goes up over the butter. Then you adjust the gauge to advance the butter stick. Then you press again and the cutter goes down through the butter and a perfect pat falls onto the plate. Now the end cover is closed and latched.I think the ease of use depends entirely on the hardness of the butter. I keep this in the butter compartment in the refrigerator door. The butter comes out of the fridge firm, but not offering much resistance to the wire cutter. It requires no effort to push the wire down and the pat cuts cleanly. I can see where hard butter might wear out the wire, and where mushy butter might stick to the end after cutting.The butter stick greases its own path on the bottom of the dispenser. The first push on the gauge took a little bit of effort, then it was fine. I don't think I'm going to wash it after every stick so I can keep the glide path.

I love this butter container/slicer. I have bought at least 3 of these now. I wish there were a way to make the slicer stronger. With each one I have had, the slicer breaks and I just love the idea so much, that I buy another. I can't live without it. I do wish the manufacturer would come up with a stronger slicer to make them last longer.

Discrimination says to cut at room temperature. So far had no problems, even though I keep in frig.

Love this! It's expensive for a kitchen gadget, but totally worth it for easy butter slicing/dispensing.

I have 2 of these and can't say enough about them. I use it almost daily and haven't had any issues. I would like to have the option of replacing the wire if I ever need to but I do not believe this part is replaceable. If im wrong please enlighten me.

Awesome, my friend had this and it made cooking with butter so much easier. I had to get one and I love using it.

I love this item. It won't last forever, but it is sturdy, and very functional. And, it goes in the dishwasher. You can store, measure and cut about any size piece of butter you need. You can make thin slices for toast, and cut tablespoons for your recipe. If you drop it, you might need a new one (just speaking from experience). It even comes with a new replaceable blade, and a different guide (if needed). This is my 3rd one, but I've owned this around 10 years, I think. I would absolutely buy again.
