Mission: The mission of Kotor Kitties is to help the homeless street cats of Montenegro lead healthier lives and to humanely reduce the homeless animal population through targeted spay/neuter surgery. Starting in Kotor, whenever possible we provide ancillary medical care (vaccine, flea control, etc) to those animals we sterilize. To support our mission and to ensure its continued effectiveness, Kotor Kitties engages in educational campaigns within the communities where we work, recruit volunteers to provide transportation and foster care for short-term medical or developmental needs, and encourage community engagement to show kindness and compassion to the homeless animals living among them through appropriate models of feeding and care. We also support and coordinate with other animal welfare groups in Montenegro to: share resources and educational materials, avoid duplication of services, and eventually develop sufficient resources to allow expansion of our targeted sterilization program into more communities where success is likely.

Direct beneficiaries per year: Since we started in September in 2018, we have sterilized 5,149 cats as of January 17,2022.We also helped arrange for a European program to begin a High quality, High Volume Sterilization program for dogs.

Programs: free spay-neuter surgeries with local vets, and work to remove all barriers to spaying and neutering. This means we provide education; humane traps, carriers and other equipment for safely working with feral animals; coordination of transport, foster care, emergency food and medical care, and support for the animals and their caretakers.
