I took these on a backpacking trip in the Appalachian mountains recently. As you can see from the image, they add less than an ounce to your pack. I've been struggling with the towel issue for awhile. Microfiber are bulky (and heavy when damp) but paper towels too disposable. These seem like the perfect inbetween. I was initially dismayed when I unwrapped the towel in order to dry off two sets of feet after a river crossing. The square puck barely absorbed any moisture. It was only after I dunked it thoroughly in a nearby stream (fortunately for me, I had one of those handy) that the towel expanded. Soaking wet by this time of course. So I wrung it out and then it did a decent job of drying us off. Then I was carrying around a sopping wet towel. So I recommend 34;activating34; the towel at home before the trip.
