Mission: La casa hogar connects and educates latina families to transform lives and our yakima valley.

Programs: Citizenship education and legal services la casa hogar is a recognized department of justice (board of immigration appeals) organization and employs doj-accredited staff. The citizenship program educates eligible lawful permanent residents about the process for naturalization and obtaining citizenship. Students learn civics and history of the united states and how to engage in their local yakima community. They build a strong sense of belonging, and an awareness of the rights and responsibilities related to being a citizen of the united states of america. In addition, the organization completes n400s, the naturalization forms that individuals need to submit successfully to obtain citizenship. Program staff offers case management from application to oath to hundreds of people each year.

adult education the organization offers pre-ged education, computer literacy, nutrition, parent advisory and civic engagement groups, and english-spanish language exchange classes, leadership development, and five levels of english as a second language classes. Additionally, growing leaders is an important outcome at la casa hogar. La casa hogar offers leadership development and encourages students to become volunteers and eventually staff members. Opportunities to practice leadership skills are available in areas such as teaching others, goal-setting, and project coordination. Lastly, la casa hogar also offers cultural and linguistic competency classes to companies and other interested organizations in the valley, that are seeking to enhance their internal understanding of culture and also industry-specific spanish.

early learning center (elc) early learning center (elc) is a school readiness program for children, ages 2-5, who otherwise would not access preschool education. Children participate in activities that focus on cognitive development, language, social/emotional, positive discipline, fine motor skills, and incorporate a special focus on stem (science, technology, engineering, mathematics). The elc activities use the linguistically and culturally competent, creative curriculum. Parents are incorporated in their childs learning experience through parent-teacher conferences, volunteering, and parent-education and training classes.
