Mission: The mission of La Plata County Humane Society (LPCHS)is to enhance and protect the lives of companion animals by ensuring the provision of sustenance, safety and shelter; educating the community regarding humane treatment of animals; and preventing pet overpopulation.

Target demographics: Medically and behaviorally rehabilitate all animals in our care, so they are adoptable and can find their forever homes.

Geographic areas served: La Plata County (Durango, Bayfield, Ignacio, Cortez)

Programs: Senior-for-Senior adoptions, Read-to-a-dog, Summer Kids Kamp, Doggie, Social Hour (Summer).
