I use these filters for both the fish and duck ponds. When the larger duck pond pump died after several years, I replaced it with the next size down since the duck pond went from 1000 gallons to less than 150 gallons. It works, but it requires far more maintenance that the next size up did. So depending on your use, you might want to go bigger. With 4 ducks in the pond, I'm having to clean the casing every 3 days or so. The next size up, with more ducks, I only had to clean maybe once a month. My bad on thinking less ducks and smaller pond I'd be ok with a slightly smaller pump. When it comes time to replace it, I will go back up a size again.I bought this as a replacement as I knew the old pump was on its way out. So it sat in my closet for a few months before use. Put it in the pond and within a week, the pump just stopped working. Reached out to customer service and they were quick to respond, asked a few questions and when we couldn't get it to work, they asked for a couple of pictures and they replaced it with a new pump. Quick and easy. They stand behind their product.Ducks are crazy messy and gross, so if you are looking at the laguna pumps for a duck pond, go big, you'll thank yourself later.
