Well, one could replace the quick release clip, but Sprenger won't sell just the clip.Seems like a waste to chuck the whole thing just because the spring on the clip is flimsy and fails in a year or two.If you are handy you can fix the clip by breaking out the existing spring, drilling a hole opposite the spring mooring post, inserting a pin in the hole (I tapped the hole and used a 4-40 screw), and taking a length of rubber tubing (I used about an inch of some leftover automotive windshield washer hose) to act as an elastic spring captured by the original mooring post and the fabricated pin. So far it's worked longer than the original for me, but this maneuver is not for the faint hearted since your dog could take off if your fabrication fails.All in all it's a fine product reduced to less than ordinary by the proverbial weak link.
