Mission: LHCC provides scholastic, spiritual, and social supports to under-resourced families mired in generational poverty. In partnership with like-minded churches, non-profits, community partners, and residents, we offer low-income families weekly after-school homework and reading assistance, tutoring, mentoring, advocacy, and family stabilization services. LHCC is unique in that we live among the people we serve, establishing kinship and trust through relationships, thus earning the privilege of educating & strengthening kids and equipping parents.

Results: LHCC was established to break generational poverty among at-risk children/families, by empowering the next generation to stay in school and become successful for life. We have seen life change in many of your students. 100% graduated to the next grade at the end of the 2020/21 school year. LHCC’s goal is to stabilize families struggling due to the impact of COVID-19 and prevent childrens’ further academic deficits. LHCC will ensure that students maintain attendance, complete modules/assignments on time, and stay on track, so that parents can continue to work. Without this funding, students stuck at home without reliable internet access or parents on-hand to supervise remote learning will continue to fall behind. Parents, many of whom have lost jobs, are faced with the unfathomable decision of either providing for their families or ensuring their children's continued education. Many will likely become homeless without ongoing assistance. Our hope is to support 50 percent more families during and after the pandemic. We have continued to provide programming throughout the pandemic in a safe and controlled environment according to CDC guidelines
