As a mom of two children, 6 and 2, coding is the big thing I keep hearing about to teach. I am not a coder in any way so when I saw this I opted to buy it for Christmas as a way to introduce everyone to coding and see what we could learn. I am unimpressed especially with what I paid for it. The "coding" is just pressing the button on the dog. So if you want it to go straight, turn left and then go straight again, you'd press the straight button, left button and straight button and then hit enter. The dog does the commands but I don't think we've learned anything about coding! You don't see the command you've entered, you can't correct anything, you are simply pressing arrows and then executing it. So it's the same as a remote controlled car to an extent. My 6 year old son was interested for a few minutes and that was that. My two year old is into it because it's that simple to do and understand and it's a cute dog with a little house and a slide and a puppy friend. So that's the appeal to her. However this being labeled as a coding toy seems such an exaggeration and I definitely would not classify it as a learning toy at all. Unless you're teaching right and left, or want it for a play toy doggy I wouldn't recommend and I personally would not buy this again.
