Coding critters is a wonderful addition to the world of coding for young children. Children can complete tasks by learning how to code their critter. It is simple, easy to use and children can use it independently. Learning resources always creates toys that are made of durable, quality products which we love and trust. This is a perfect gift or activity for young kids to challenge their creativity and curious mind.

It's a great idea as a learning to code toy but Kids lost interest after 1st day.<br />We also have difficulty getting the dog to turn at the right angle and direction.<br />The ranger story book also only have few pages, I wish there could be more stories<br />involved to get kids really play with it.

As a mom of two children, 6 and 2, coding is the big thing I keep hearing about to teach. I am not a coder in any way so when I saw this I opted to buy it for Christmas as a way to introduce everyone to coding and see what we could learn. I am unimpressed especially with what I paid for it. The "coding" is just pressing the button on the dog. So if you want it to go straight, turn left and then go straight again, you'd press the straight button, left button and straight button and then hit enter. The dog does the commands but I don't think we've learned anything about coding! You don't see the command you've entered, you can't correct anything, you are simply pressing arrows and then executing it. So it's the same as a remote controlled car to an extent. My 6 year old son was interested for a few minutes and that was that. My two year old is into it because it's that simple to do and understand and it's a cute dog with a little house and a slide and a puppy friend. So that's the appeal to her. However this being labeled as a coding toy seems such an exaggeration and I definitely would not classify it as a learning toy at all. Unless you're teaching right and left, or want it for a play toy doggy I wouldn't recommend and I personally would not buy this again.

kids really excited about something different, the fact that they could tell it what to do was interesting and is a great jumpstart to understand early coding directions.

Really cute and simple to use. Got it for a 2.5 yr old who loves it. We work on directions, not so much the step counting just yet. It has "play modes" too where it sings or sleeps. The battery compartment is a little strange, where 1 battery sits below the other two, so it looks like you only need two, but it actually takes 3 batteries (AAA) to work, which is mentioned on the box

These are great little toys! I love that it is a easy way to get kids to learn how to code, make them think as they are playing with it. Unfortunately, it does not hold my kids interest tho. I have a 8, 6 and 4 year old girl. The 4 year old plays with it the most, but just as a toy, not to code at all.

The perfect way to introduce small children to coding principles. It is a fun set with two dogs to code and an environment to test them in. Reasonably priced and accessible learning tool.

My 3 year old loves this! It took a minute to set up but was easy for her to learn. She mostly uses the play mode right now, but I'm sure will grow into coding with the wonderful book provided to encourage her! Great learning toy!

Purchase the spray three-year-old for Christmas. Very mechanically inclined child. Even when the child is not using it and both parents try we have a difficult time getting a dog to actually do what we have "programmed.". Good in theory but I would not buy again.
