Works great for my dog, I bent the hooks slightly outwards so it would fit on the door to my ruffland kennel and it works great!

My puppy thinks it is fun to get her nose under the pail and try to flip it. So far, this pail has stopped her from tossing kibble all over the floor. I use a double snap to attach the handle to the side with the hooks through the mesh. It's still a little loose and she can move it around, but has not been able to dump it. It may depend on your crate. The one I am using has metal squares instead of bars. The pail is designed with the handle going into two holders instead of having the ends form hooks that go through holes in the pail. This is safer for the dog. The ones with hooks can get tangled in a long haired dog's coat. [I've had to cut a Peke free from a pail's hook.] The double hooks on these pails are a bit heavy, so if you're carrying the pail it tends to hang crooked.

These kennel bowls are well made! Large enough for my German Shepherd, easy to clean either by hand or in the dish washer, and stand up to my dog playing with it when he isn't supposed to ;-) I added a buckle clip to keep it attached now, but otherwise it works perfectly!
