This probably works on small engines and lawnmowers too, however, one is likely to require an assistant to watch for the spark indicator while pulling the rope to turn the engine over.

Right of the packaging I used it to diagnose a missfire on a vehicle and it's instructions on the back of the package tell you exactly what to look for within 10 minutes I was able to locate the source of the problem and have it repaired with no headaches.

Hook in line between spark plug and plug wire boot. Good spark shows as good strong light. Poor spark shows as weak or no light. Used it today to diagnose bad coil on two cylinder engine.

really like this product. easy to use and seems very well made. especially easy to see the spark. nice and bright even in daylight. do not know if can be seen in sun b can see in bright light on porch. very happy with this purchase

Neglected for years acquiring one of these devices to test for spark on small engines. Works very well and no more 'AED' episodes trying to hold a plug wire to establish 'fire'. Works as it is intended making the task much simpler and safer.
