I purchased this because 90 of the cast iron burger presses have a wooden handle. It might not be necessary but there will be a day you will want to throw this in the oven with your pans for a round of seasoning. The wooden handle, oil and an oven didn't sound smart. LOL. Taking the wooden handle off to season is an avoidable task with this press. The weight is fantastic. The bottom is a little rough from the sand in the casting during production. Made in South Pittsburg, TN because there is NO WAY I would purchase cast iron manufactured anywhere else other than American.

I have a couple of grill presses, but wanted one for my skillet. This was one of the bigger ones that I was able to locate. It came with a nice finish and matches my other lodge cast iron. It has a nice weight to it. I look forward to all the cooking ahead of us!

This press is awesome.I mostly use this in a square skillet to cook bacon. I preheat the skillet with this press inside, then drop the bacon in and hold it down with the press. No curls and not much shrinkage. I flip once, press again, and then serveit's the best bacon I've ever cooked and it comes out that way consistently.This press also fits in a great in a 12" skillet and it's great for pressing Cuban sandwiches.

You can use this on anything that benefits from a weight. Grilled meats, keeps bacon splatter to 0 and bacon is flat, can smash burgers. It's heavy duty (will last forever) and I'm not gonna lie I, when it's time to clean it, it does not get the same kind and gentle treatment as my cast iron/carbon steel skillets, griddle, etc. It's just a flat pc of cast iron with a handle. If the seasoning comes off I'll just re-season it in the gas grill. Seriously it's pretty awesome especially because it's affordable. AND made in America.

I use this for smashed burgers and to flatten out butterflied boneless chicken thighs. Works great on the grill too.

It's heavy; it does its job. I took off a star because the handle gets hot, and it should be made of wood or another material that doesn't transfer heat. Because there isn't a lot of clearance between the handle and the press itself, it's a bit hard to use a potholder with it. Had I to buy another bacon press, I'd get one with a different handle.

I recommend getting one bacon press for each person eating at the table. It's just my wife and me, so I bought two. We use them every day, because everything tastes better with bacon! We are considering getting two more so we can cook even more bacon all at the same time, when we have family over.

We used this cast iron press to make quesadillas, and it worked perfectly. There was no sticking or burning. Can't wait to try it on the grill when the weather warms up!

Works great. But if you use it on a closed gas grill like a Weber, the handle gets very hot. Ouch! Be careful and use a glove. Burned my hand pretty good.
