I have used many Lodge cast iron products for decades, made in South Pittsburgh, TN. Cast iron is sacred in the South, providing cherished heirloom cookware for future generations. This grill press is great for making smash burgers, keeping bacon from curling, or pressing a panini- type sandwich. I would have preferred a little larger one but this one has the wire handle, which means I can preheat it on the griddle or burner to toast or grill from the top while the bottom cooks. The one-piece presses with the curved cast iron handle are fine but I wanted something I could leave on the griddle for and extended time without fear of grabbing a hot iron handle. This one is pretty close to perfect for me.

I bought this to make smash burgers. Obviously it is to press a burger patty. Get the flat one if you want smash burgers. I grinder off the edge and now I have a smash press anyways!

Another quality product by Lodge. We purchased this Lodge cast iron press for searing variety of meats, sausage patties, and homemade hashbrowns. This press works great with a 8 to 10 pan just wish we had purchased sooner.

Product was great! Does an amazing job at smash burgers and keeping bacon flat. It is almost too small or too large depending on the application. It is perfectly in the middle where you deal with the size and enjoy its versatility.

Typical of Lodge, the L8RFIP is a good product with one issue. It's flat and heavy like a press should be but not without their also typically inadequate preseasoning. Those little rust spots and/or chips that people mention in their reviews are evident of just that - a quick, cursory preseasoning that needs work. Like every piece of Lodge cast iron I own, I strip their preseasoning in favor of my own grapeseed oil coating. And that takes me to all the reviews that mention rust. If you don't know how to use and maintain cast iron properly you have no business calling out rust as a defect and leaving a low rating because of it. Uncoated, it WILL rust. The Internet is chock full of how-to sites that will teach you how to take care of your cookware and it's not Lodge's fault if you don't learn.

This press is outstanding, a typical Lodge product. Woks great inside the house and in the outdoor kitchen. This particular press work great as a smash burger press and as a weight as you grill competition grade steaks.

This is press is very well made. I purchased it because of the one piece design so I didn't have to worry about a handle failing.It pressed the meat just fine but it has a ‘cupped' design that will only allow you to press the patty to a certain thickness. If you want thinner you'll need to press with spatulas or use a different press.Some might like this limitation on the press but I'm going to try their other press that completely flat on bottom.Can't go wrong with Lodge quality though.

This is the perfect thing to put on top of a cheese sandwich to get the perfect sear. I use it almost daily. It just gets left out in my cast iron skillet that stays in the stove.

This grill press from Lodge works perfectly. It ensures that meats (such as bacon strips and small steaks) stay flat and get seared evenly. Additionally, it is the right size for smashing two burgers at once - side by side. The press is well made, nicely heavy, and cleans up as well and as easily as my cast iron pan.
