I'm a fan of cast iron but never had any kind of grill press before. I love this thing. I have used it so far for burger patties and hot sandwiches.PROS:-- I can easily use this in my 8qt Ninja Foodi without banging it against the sides or scratching the pot.-- It's the perfect weight for keeping a burger patty from shrinking it holds sandwiches in place without pushing the filling out into the pan.-- It's been easy to clean after pressing ground beef patties. As long as I wipe it clean with a little oil on a rag while it's still hot, everything comes right off. I don't wash it with soap but treat it like I do all my cast iron - cleaning with oil and, if needed, salt. I oil it and store it with my other cast iron pieces.-- Having the handle be cast iron as well is what makes this so great for me. I can use it on my Foodi which is what I cook most meals in. I was worried about wooden and other non-iron handles standing up to heat over time.-- Takes less time to cook ground beef patties - maybe because of the more even heat?CON:-- Not really the fault of design but just a little bit of care has to be taken when handling this. When I use it to press meats, I have to watch for dripping oils and moisture when removing the iron. I've started putting a pie pan nearby when I use this so that I can store it there to hold any drippings.I'm really glad to have this. I thought it was just going to be for meats and sandwiches but I used it last night to hold down a pie crust while I browned it. I just had to use much lower heat when browsing the crust and I had to put parchment paper between the iron and the crust.
