Get a good insulated glove as this iron will heat up. It's heavy and 8inches in diameter. Great for my medium sized frying pan to keep bacon and burgers flat.

This doesn't work at all. I bought the one that said it was for smash burgers. It has a lip on it so it can't properly smash them.

There is a small lip on the edge of the press that makes the burgers a consistent at about 1/4 thickness. At first I was disappointed but after using it a few times I actually like the consistent sized burger patties/patty's (sp?) it makes.

I didn't think that this would work SO well, but it does!! While my 10 Lodge cast iron skillet is preheating, I have this Lodge press on another burner so that they will be ready to use at the same time. After smashing my burger puck down in my skillet , I leave it alone for 2 minutes and it is beautifully seared on both sides at once! (Btw, wear a good oven mitt- this is solid cast iron and the handle will be hot.)

I had this press for quite a while, using it only to make pressed grilled sandwiches. I came to learn it fits perfectly in my 6 quart InstantPot with enough room to let steam escape. The verdict, beautifully browned meats before I slap on the lid for pressure cooking. If you were ever disappointed in how the InstantPot browns meat, this press is a game changer!

This thing is amazing for making panini. I got it instead of the panini press because I thought it would be more versatile with the flat surface. I use the Lodge grill pan and just flip the sandwich over. It works so great I haven't tried it with anything else. Just remember to use a potholder on the handle!

First some background - I am totally happy with my (expensive) Finex 10 cast iron pan, brilliant finish, great performance, looks beautiful. But my friends at Finex want $150 for their grill press.The Lodge product sells for a small fraction of this price. No fancy handle but pre-seasoned, solidly built, and fits perfectly in my 10 pan. A good product at an excellent price.

It's a cast-iron press. There is not much else to say, except that Lodge had the best handle to press attachment. The screws on other brands looked cheap and like they would come undone. Not this thing. You could crush bricks with it.

The reviews from people complaining about rust have clearly never had cast iron. I seasoned this upon arrival and it has worked amazing since.

This may not seem like a necessary kitchen item but after you use it on steaks, chops, burgers, grilled cheese, etc.. you will notice the difference.. The weight is just right.
