It's heavy; it does its job. I took off a star because the handle gets hot, and it should be made of wood or another material that doesn't transfer heat. Because there isn't a lot of clearance between the handle and the press itself, it's a bit hard to use a potholder with it. Had I to buy another bacon press, I'd get one with a different handle.

Works great. But if you use it on a closed gas grill like a Weber, the handle gets very hot. Ouch! Be careful and use a glove. Burned my hand pretty good.

This works great for regular sized burgers. There is a lip around the edge, so it is not a flat press. This prevented me from being about to get the smash I needed for normal sized smash burgers. It is a great, sturdy press other than that.

I bought this to make smash burgers. Obviously it is to press a burger patty. Get the flat one if you want smash burgers. I grinder off the edge and now I have a smash press anyways!

Another quality product by Lodge. We purchased this Lodge cast iron press for searing variety of meats, sausage patties, and homemade hashbrowns. This press works great with a 8 to 10 pan just wish we had purchased sooner.

Product was great! Does an amazing job at smash burgers and keeping bacon flat. It is almost too small or too large depending on the application. It is perfectly in the middle where you deal with the size and enjoy its versatility.

This is press is very well made. I purchased it because of the one piece design so I didn't have to worry about a handle failing. It pressed the meat just fine but it has a ‘cupped' design that will only allow you to press the patty to a certain thickness. If you want thinner you'll need to press with spatulas or use a different press. Some might like this limitation on the press but I'm going to try their other press that completely flat on bottom. Can't go wrong with Lodge quality though.

95 love it, but it should really come with lock washers for the handle, IMO. Tough to tighten the handle nuts down in the first place (just a little awkward to hold the one site while turning the other), but extra tough once it gets a little greasy. So to have to do it every couple weeks or so is a little inconvenient. Going to look for lock washers or similar next time I'm at the hardware store.

Consider buying one of the presses that has a wooden handle. The iron transmits heat to the handle pretty quickly, and then you need a towel or potholder or mitt to pick the thing up.

When it arrived it had a rough/raw unseasoned edge but seems to work just fine!

There is a small lip on the edge of the press that makes the burgers a consistent at about 1/4” thickness. At first I was disappointed but after using it a few times I actually like the consistent sized burger patties/patty's (sp?) it makes.

So long as you don't use it like you see it in the picture! If you want to keep it simple and easy to clean just do what I did and using it is a breeze. Wrap the flat bottom with foil and have a plate that this will fit in nearby. When your turning meat or finished using it put it in the plate you have ready for it. The foil keeps the press clean for immediate use again and the plate? Where else are you going to put a greasy cast iron weight in the middle of cooking? Have a plate ready before you run out of hands looking for some place to put it when you need two hands! I like this for many sizes of pans.
