Typical of Lodge, the L8RFIP is a good product with one issue. It's flat and heavy like a press should be but not without their also typically inadequate preseasoning. Those little rust spots and/or chips that people mention in their reviews are evident of just that - a quick, cursory preseasoning that needs work. Like every piece of Lodge cast iron I own, I strip their preseasoning in favor of my own grapeseed oil coating. And that takes me to all the reviews that mention rust. If you don't know how to use and maintain cast iron properly you have no business calling out rust as a defect and leaving a low rating because of it. Uncoated, it WILL rust. The Internet is chock full of how-to sites that will teach you how to take care of your cookware and it's not Lodge's fault if you don't learn.

This is press is very well made. I purchased it because of the one piece design so I didn't have to worry about a handle failing.It pressed the meat just fine but it has a ‘cupped' design that will only allow you to press the patty to a certain thickness. If you want thinner you'll need to press with spatulas or use a different press.Some might like this limitation on the press but I'm going to try their other press that completely flat on bottom.Can't go wrong with Lodge quality though.

This is the perfect thing to put on top of a cheese sandwich to get the perfect sear. I use it almost daily. It just gets left out in my cast iron skillet that stays in the stove.

You'll like this press. Might need a hot pad to pick it up sometimes.It's a great tool in my Arsenal of cast iron pans!!

This grill press from Lodge works perfectly. It ensures that meats (such as bacon strips and small steaks) stay flat and get seared evenly. Additionally, it is the right size for smashing two burgers at once - side by side. The press is well made, nicely heavy, and cleans up as well and as easily as my cast iron pan.

This press does a really good job pressing down burgers and anything else that you would want to while cooking on a griddle or cast iron pan.I would recommend cleaning after using, so the grease doesn't build up.Also, adding your own seasoning may help as well, but it's not needed.

Like my rectangular bacon presses, I still have to move this one around in my skillet, but I'm less worried about it scratching my ceramic coated pans, since there are no corners. Lodge cast iron cookware is a reliable brand, made in the USA, and I should never have to replace it I have a Lodge skillet I inherited 27 years ago--no telling how old it is. I use it often, and it's still in great condition.

95 love it, but it should really come with lock washers for the handle, IMO. Tough to tighten the handle nuts down in the first place (just a little awkward to hold the one site while turning the other), but extra tough once it gets a little greasy. So to have to do it every couple weeks or so is a little inconvenient. Going to look for lock washers or similar next time I'm at the hardware store.

Love this! Smash burgers made easier. I worried about the handle becoming too hot but I didn't leave it but just a few seconds on each burger. I could see it potentially burning someone if they left it on the griddle.
