Mission: To be the voice of Louisiana’s wildlife and natural resources.

Results:

LWF participates in rulemaking by monitoring state agency action and debates at the state legislature while providing critical input from the conservation community through its leadership and network of volunteers who participate on commissions and task forces. LWF frequently collaborates with other organizations on priority issues.

LWF has a long history of defending wildlife habitat and winning advances for conservation and the environment.
LWF was the leading voice to establish the Louisiana Wildlife and Fisheries Commission to help remove politics from wildlife management, and the constitutional amendment dedicating the Conservation Fund for the operation of the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries to stabilize funding sources.
Recent notable achievements include advocating for protection of Elmer’s Island which is now open to the public, for constitutional protection of the Artificial Reef Development Fund, which won passage by Louisiana’s voters in 2014, and for protection of the Sabine Oyster Reef in 2018.
