Mission: The Louisville Orchestra (LO) was founded in 1937, and is the largest and only full-time professional orchestra in the Commonwealth of Kentucky and has been instrumental to the development of new music through commissioning, performance and recording. The LO offers a wide variety of concerts and educational programs to the community featuring world-renowned guest artists and conductors, classic and pops performances, and extensive school, family and community engagement offerings. The LO's legacy education program MakingMUSIC, is nationally recognized and reaches every 4th and 5th grade student in all 92 JCPS elementary schools. The LO reaches more than 70,000 residents each season including 20,000 school children through in-school programs and concert hall presentations. Teddy Abrams' vision is to position the Louisville Orchestra as "the most interesting orchestra on the planet" by defining what it means to be an orchestra in the 21st century. (Less)
