Very similar to the actual military wool blankets. Not super soft but.... it's wool so that was expected. Plenty big and super warm.

It does shed a tremendous amount the first wash. Bult it is a warm blanket. I bought it specifically to turn it into a cloak for a hobbit costume. It is enough material to make a good sized cloak and hood. It is very warm and surprisingly good at blocking wind. Probably not suited for extreme cold, but fall weather holds up

Bought this to cut myself a Ruana Cloak. Its wool so it isn't soft or lightweight, but its thick enough to block the wind and serves as perfect material to make a winter cloak.

There's a damp , unpleasant, chemical smell that accompanies this blanket. Read it could be lanolin, but I think it's the flame retardant. Washed once in Percil, no help. Then again, Percil with 1/2 cup baking soda. But next time will next something extra again. This is why I'm unhappy with the blanket. No way to tell what the odor is or if it's safe.

I ordered 6 of these blankets and upon receiving them and opening them from the plastic covering, they had an overwhelming smell of strong 'chemicals'. I have a front-loading washing machine, which is very easy on clothing, and I washed the first blanket on 'gentle' with a full amount of fabric softener. After the full wash, I pulled it out and hung it to dry. (I didn't want to put it in the Clothes Dryer, as I didn't want to 'loose' a lot of the wool volume in the lint catcher.) The washed blanket, upon pulling it out of the washer, smelled fresh and nice.... but after two hours of drying, it still has a little of the chemical smell. I am guessing it might take two washings before the nasty, chemical smell goes away.Other than that, the blankets seem well made and I think I am really going to like them. I am a BIG fan of natural fibers.... loving cotton, down and wool. So I am hoping these blankets make me very, very happy.......

A bit too itchy to be my first choice for bed use, but I bought it to put on my barbecue to keep it hotter in cold and windy weather, and it does a great job. Hasn't burned been affected at all by direct contact with incredibly hot steel for long periods of time. Fireproof.

It's a military style, heavy, wool blanket. Just as described. No bad chemical smell as I've seen in some other reviews.

Just a little thinner than I expected after washing, but they stayed together and should work just fine in the event I need them. Bought a couple for vehicle preparedness. They are pretty good sized! To clean, I washed on delicate with cold-warm water then dried on low heat for 20 minute intervals until damp, then I air dried outside. Wool produces a lot of lint so empty lint often and dont over dry in the dryer or it will eat your blanket away.

It's exactly what I wanted and generally I love them. BUT! Be sure to wash it by itself! I comes with a chemical/oil smell so I washed them with a couple towels and the green dye bleed onto the towels. Other than that they're great!

On the first washing be sure to wipe the lint out of the washer and clean the dryer lint filter every ten minutes while it's in the dry cycle. A great product for the price.

I have ordered 4 of these starting in 2017. I am ordering 3 more today. They are extremely warm and very comfortable. None of mine have ever stunk. I wash them with cold water ONLY in my top loading washer, on a delicate cycle. DO NOT USE SOAP AND DO NOT DRY IN DRYER. Wool has natural oils that soap will remove. To dry them I put them on the back of my couch until dry. My husband (6 foot) and my son (6 ft 2 inches) both use one of these in the winter when in the den sitting to watch tv. Both of them enjoy this wool blanket for its warmth and the fact that it is long enough to cover them comfortably . The 4 I have ordered in the past are still in use and doing well. I am getting 3 more to so we can keep some in the den and still have all the bedrooms covered.

Like many reviewers said, there is a strong fuel odor coming from this upon opening the package. However, I’m sure WITHOUT the source of this odor, this wool blanket would not be “fire retardant”which is my sole purpose for buying this. So, it’s a trade off.You could wash this like the directions indicate. But if you’re lazy like me and don’t care about “softness” (and honestly why would u buy this if u care about “softness”), I would suggest airing this blanket outside for about 2 weeks. Hang it on a clothes line. Don’t worry if it rains because it helps. This dries very quickly and the rain will accelerate airing it out. After 2 weeks the odor is still there but it’s minimal. It’s 75 less than what it used to be. Overall it’s great for the price.I also found an added benefit to the odor. It keeps most insects away. Flies, mosquitoes, etc. wanted no part of this while it was hanging outside.

The blanket does have a smell that I haven’t quite gotten off after a week of having it but I expected that honestly. I washed it as soon as I got it on delicate cycle and dryed on low heat delicate as well. Make sure you clean the lint filter every 10-15 min because it will fill up fast. I use my blanket as a poncho to walk around during the cold mornings and at night it’s my top blanket to retain heat. The blanket is very warm and not very itchy. I love it a lot and would recommend it to anyone who doesn’t mind letting the smell wear off after constant use.

I love this thing. It’s huge so I can wrap myself up completely (5’6). Super soft once you use it a good bit, like it just keeps getting better! Don’t know how to wash it tho so that’s scary
