I was testing out wool blankets, this one I can see through gaps in the blankets weave. I was gifted a more expensive blanket and compared. If your willing to spend more, you can get a much better blanket. This will hopefully do for emergencies. It's a bit itchy for a couch blanket.

This is a heavy, sturdy and warm blanket. Pleasure to sleep under. It has a smell when you first get it (I think it's the fire retardent) so you need to wash it. We then put it in the dryer on low. It throws a LOT of lint - as in fistfulls. We have purchased a few of these blankets, so have learned to stop the dryer every 15 minutes and clean the lint trap. A great blanket for the bed, car, emergency, cabin or camping.

When this arrived it did smell. I washed it, following the directions on the package. The smell mostly subsided, and it did give off a ton of lint. That being said, once washed it was much more comfortable and was exactly what I was looking for to leave in my car for emergency purposes.

Keep this in my trunk for emergencies or even cold nights out by the firepit. I took it to the laundromat for its first wash. Used scent boosters and tons of fabric softener so it smells nice and super soft. I'd bet that the more you use this and wash it the softer it will get. It does make lots of lint so best to do it in a commercial washer and dryer!

I wanted these blankets for my emergency “go-bag”. They were perfect for that. In the meantime I will use them for camping.

I have purchased two of these in the course of a year or two as utility camping blankets. Each one is made in India and looks slightly different from the other and the stitching and weave isn't quality. But given the price and the warmth once folded, it is acceptable.A word of advice, hand wash the blanket in the sink once you get it. It will take a lot of effort and about 30 minutes to soap then rinse then put in the washer on spin for 30 seconds. Do this repeatedly until the dye and excess lint is removed and the water turns clear. At the end of this process, the blanket won't look nappy and smooth felt. The smell also improves.Instead it will appear as a loose wool weave, which is evidence of a non-quality woolen blanket. But that is ok because it is very cheap and a folded blanket can actually be warmer than a quality single wool blanket. This is an acceptable budget blanket that can be used for non-hiking camping or for emergencies.

Okay honestly I haven't washed this thing like other reviewers have, so the softness isn't there for mine. But, I don't really care because I just needed it to be warm. I have this on my bed on top of a quilt and I'm so cozy at night sleeping with the heat off. Definitely recommend. Great price and does the job

I bought one of these a few months ago and liked it so much I bought a second one. It is tightly woven, soft and warm. It is a great size.I see people complaining about smell, but with a wash on delicate with wool landery detergent and a tumble dry on low heat and let it set out a day it just has a lanolin smell, which I like. So does my Aussie! She approves of this blanket as much as I do. I'm thinking about getting a third for the car as an emergency blanket.Nice blanket, soft and warm and a great price!

With power outages across the US and recent cold, I decided to add this to my inventory just in case. Purchased 3 and I'm happy I did. The smell reminds me of the old days in the military but it's not that powerful as other have indicated. I just let it breath and it eventually goes away. Haven washed then to see what the washing machine picks up but it's whoop and some things in the drier coming off are to be expected. It's for emergency use only anyways so as long as the family is warm, no worries.

Got these to put one in each vehicle with our go-bag! Actually took them out and used last week during the artic blast that came thru and we had -8 temps in TN which isn't really common for us. We put over the doors with glass and it was in immediate difference. Hope to grab a few more! I didn't have a problem with a smell as they were hanging in big open rooms, and if it really came down to keeping warm, I wouldn't dare be petty and complain about a little smell if it were keeping me alive!
