Good price, great delivery!

I got tired of using the equipment provided by the league given I do a lot of games. In fact, I'd say the equipment given by our league was pretty high quality stuff and better than this but like I said, I just wanted my own after a while. In terms of fit, I'm 5'7.5 and weigh about 170. It's a bit long for my height but that didn't prove to be a problem. I think ideally it would fit someone 5'10. I used the protection only as the ancillary equipment was pretty cheap. The chest and leg protector fit well and saved me time and again for games involving 10-11 yos. For the 12 year old level games, I did take a couple of balls that I felt a bit more but nothing that left a mark. I don't think I'd recommend this for older kids. At the end of the day, it worked as a I expected and I'm happy with the purchase given the relatively affordable price. If I could more accurately rate this, I'd give it 4.5 stars.

Great as a starter kit. Was delivered in a timely fashion. The ball bag ripped in a minute, seriously in two games one loop was un-sewed and the brush and ball strike counter holders are not functional- too tight to get out and back in during game.

I've been umpiring Little League, PONY, Babe Ruth, and COLT baseball and softball for 5 years now and bought the the complete macgregor set when I began working behind the plate. I'm 6'2'' and weigh 190lbs and I've had very little to complain about with this set. The chest protector is lightweight but covers your chest, collar bone, and shoulders well. You can also adjust how tight, high, and how far the protector extends. You hardly feel a thing getting hit with pitches 60-70mph. With faster pitching though, you may want something a little more heavy duty. The mask has good visibility and isn't too heavy even going into the last few innings. The shin guards, once broken in, are flexible and lightweight enough that they don't slow you down, but still protect you from those pitches in the dirt. The ball bag is somewhat cheap, but I love how it has a separate pocket for the brush and indicator (still using the original brush and indicator with no problems at all). The ball bag fits 2 softballs or up to 5 baseballs comfortably. Overall I've been very pleased with this purchase, especially for the very affordable price of less than 100. I will continue using this until I give it to my younger brother when he starts out as an umpire. This is a great set especially for beginning umpires. It has served me well.
