Being an LA native Paddle Tennis is as California as Venice Beach...and in fact Venice is the epicenter of Paddle Tennis.Oddly, you can not walk in to a Big 5 or Sports whatever and buy one or a set of paddles. For those of you that don't know:Paddle tennis is a game adapted from tennis and played for over a century. Compared to tennis, the court is smaller and has no doubles lanes, and the net is lower. Paddle tennis is played with a solid paddle as opposed to a strung racquet, and a depressurized tennis ball is used along with an underhand serve. The same court is used for both singles and doubles, with doubles being the dominant form of play. The smaller court size adds a strong emphasis and advantage to net play and creates a fast and reaction-based game.I noticed court all over my neighborhood and being a racquet sports guy, I thought I would take it up.The Voit purchase is everything you need. I'm not saying the $100 each paddles are not worth it, but I find it hard to believe that they are any different than these Voit's and if you add the appropriate sweat grip tape (as you can and I did) how these are any more or less inferior or superior to any more expensive brands....well ok so those other's are colored and fancy looking..For me, being a racquet sports guy - a snob even - I have gotten more than my money's worth from these Voit's and am contemplating buying two more to have a set for a proper foursome. So, search no further - spend no more than this - this is what you want.
