After one short game this ball softens up to allow barehanded play, just like the old ones. But, it was scary hard out of the box and didn't soften by bouncing on the ground like a basketball. But, a 30 oz bat takes the edge off it very well.

This ball is nicely made. It is rock hard when it is new but from what I understand they soften up with use. It is hard to catch when it is new because it can hurt the hands of a child and even after a while will hurt my hands. I have been throwing it against the ground to try to speed up the wear on this ball so that it can get soft enough to enjoy.

This is what softball is all about..no gloves. Everybody in all the parks in Chicago plays this. 16 softball. Yeah!!!!

My family has always played softball with one of these at family gatherings. My daughter recently had a graduation open house and had many of her friends over. Everyone jumped in and played the game using this ball. No one could hit it a mile and the game was fun as no one had to use a glove. We really enjoyed having a new one of these balls since our last one finally gave up the ghost. Highly recommended!

These are a ton of fun! I've used them before if you play with them for awhile they will soften up and you can use them without gloves easier.

We bought this as a gift, so can not personally testify for it. But, it came quicker than it was suppose to, which is always a bonus. Plus, it looked like it was very good quality. We have also heard good things from the friend we gave it too. Would reccommend it.
