I was excited to install Vessel View on my first four stroke motor. Being able to read things like RPMs, water temp and oil pressure directly from the sensors on the motor gives you piece of mind on the water and having the ability to gauge fuel consumption makes this product so valuable.

Easy to hook up is the first benefit, but it also saved me from replacing bad gauges on my boat. The diagnostic tool is great too. Still, it's kind of expensive, but all boat stuff is overpriced.

Not all functions register. Like water pressure and engine temp. It may be just my setup i don't know.I do like the hour meter, fuel economyand speed, you are able to find the best cruise speed with the best fuel consumption.

Install isn't necessarily difficult- just make sure you set up the connector properly with the resistor in line. The trickier part is placing the unit somewhere under the engine cover, away from places that are too hot or restrict cable movements, etc. Being able to see the data real time is awesome for finding the right cruise speed for best fuel consumption. Performance report shows you gph across a multitude of rpm/speed ranges. You can easily see where your boat is most efficient. Once you enter fuel data (size of tank at fill up), it also helps you accurately monitor how much fuel you have used. I know my boat's fuel gauge is way off now. My only complaint is that it constantly disconnects from my phone/the app while underway. It seems to come right back, but I'm not sure why it's doing this. My phone is less than 10ft from the unit so distance should t be a concern. Everything is also up to date. But I like it enough to keep using it regardless. Knowing when regular maintenance is due is also I nice feature.

Maintenance hours on motor

This thing is amazing. If you must install it under the engine cowling, do not secure anywhere near the spark plug wiring. The EMF from the spark plug wires will interfere with the Blue Tooth connection.

Great way to monitor the performance of the engine. Logs all engine hours and maintenance.

Customer Support shows once you have it hooked up and when the little spinning wheel stops your supposed to go to the top of that screen and hit the boat figure. No where on the original instructions does it say that. I thanked the Andrew from C/Support and mentioned that to him and he responded by saying he and his group would look into it and thanked me for my feedback. It works great on my new 4/stoke i bought and will definitely be using it every time we go out. I've got to figure out on the app there is a screen that you can actually slow the rpm's down even slower when your in idle. It is really a nice piece of equipment to use on your boat as long as you have a Mercury of course and it will work w/2 or more engines.

If you buy a used boat, This simple tool will let you know your engines true hours. This one thing was worth the price for me. Now add in the accurate RPM readout and that was enough for me, and there is a whole lot more!

Had the dreaded beeps on the boat. Installed this in about 6 minutes. Took longer to take the engine covers of than to install this. Turned the key, connected to my phone in seconds and saw exactly what was causing the beeps. Saved myself $800 buy doing the work myself. Pays for itself!!!
