As far as something so simple like this goes, it works great, just drill the hole the box says to drill and smack these guys in with a hammer and job done.My only gripe would be if they came in different sizes, I would love to protect the existing wire in my walls when I do work that brings down the sheetrock or drywall.. Sometimes the contractors just put the wire through the studs 1/2 an inch from the drywall, no idea how that passes code but it still happens never the less, so having some different sizes to fit what ever hole size they drilled would be nice. But overall this product does what it implies it does, and does it well, its a good feeling knowing I installed something up to code - and better than some home builders do.

Drilled 1' hole, hammered in sleeve and threaded wire through. I will say I wish they made 5/8' or even 1/2' versions, 1' seemed overkill for just one run of romex.

Purchased these for a wire run behind floor moulding, to add some outlets. Nice idea, but in a confined space it is a little difficult to get these aligned. I used my Channellocks to squeeze the insert end just a bit. This allowed me to better position the shield for hammering in place.

these things are awesome one of the best nail guards for wire, especially on a center wall you have protection on both sides. you don't have to put a plate on both sides of the stud, you just place one and done.

I saw an article about these in Family Handyman a few yrs back, and forgot about them.......Well I saw a guy on YT, and he was giving praise to these little time savers. I love them, easy to install, fairly thick, and affordable. You'll need a 1 hole bit, I bought the Tri Blade Irving ones, easy bit to use. After drilling, you just tap, or hammer them in place so the spikes are embedded.....done! They have a mid slit, so uou can put them on after the romex, or wires are run through the holes. Great product, get them. You will thank yourself later with all the time saved NOT notching out nail plates.1 tip, install these opposite of your outlet boxes. The spike stay out a bit, and will interfere with your boxes screw hole if installed too close to your romex holes. Learn from my mistakes people!

Easy method to add protection to framing members to protect the wires and cable. Very easy to install, just need a 1 hole and hammer them into place. Sure beats adding plates to the face of the framing members. Wished they made them in a couple of other sizes, smaller and larger.

I love this wire protectors. I used them in my 2” x 4” shed walls. They work great.

The design works well in protecting wiring in the stud and has the added benefit, I found, of allowing wiring to be pulled through a bit easier. Only down side is, the barbs are a little on the short side so the guards don't stay in very well if the studs are vibrated from hammering or other construction activities which cause them to be jostled. Other than that, I would buy again.
