This is the 21st Century, why would anyone want and old school 'NON LED' flashlight? I like Astronomy. The red light flashlights you find are tacti-cool but utterly worthless. A flashlight that throws a red beam for 50 meters is too bright for avaition, astronomy, or even reading a road atlas at night. These are only meant to impress the kiddies. This 'Old School' Maglite only puts out 14 lumens. If you get the optional filter kit (sold with this version of the flashlight) you get a red flashlight that is just bright enough to read by, won't destroy your night vision, and will last a tad over 5 hours on a set of alkaline AA batteries. Great for anyone who prefers function over tacti-coolness! Pilots, astronomers, night time drivers, will appreciate the functionality of this light over all others.
