These types of flashlights have been around for years. If you need a basic beam light and piece of defensive equipment, this 5-battery is a good size. Kind of like a flashlight and baseball bat all in one.

Back in the day the 3 D-cell Maglite was considered an excellent head-whopper for night security and law enforcement. It has a solid construction that held up well over the years. I have no complaints about its reliability. Unfortunately, this flashlight is dim by today's standards. Flashlights in this price range are easily boasting in excess of 1,000 lumens using more economical batteries. But, if you need a flashlight for defense, this could be the one. It makes an excellent nightstick.

If you'd like one handed operation of your mini Maglite unscrew the head (the part with the lens) and coat the threads with white grease.

I bought this flashlight to replace the one I broke - an unfortunate fall which permanently ruined the contact between the light and the battery. Suggestion: advise purchasers to order 2 D batteries when they buy the flashlight - it does not come with batteries.
