I had no problem with the suction cup staying securely on the glass. Whether how accurate it is, I can't say.

I really like this thermometer. It's accurate and very easy to read. This is REALLY important as my eyes aren't as good.

With the suction cup I can put the thermometer anywhere in the tank.
