Mission: Martha's Kitchen is a nonprofit public benefit corporation with its beginnings in the 60's when its founder Louise Benson gave out peanut butter sandwiches and other essentials to the needy from her garage in Willow Glen. When neighbors complained about the lines of poor people in the neighborhood, she moved her ministry to her home parish in 1981. This became for this poor community the parish outreach whose mission is to feed the hungry with dignity, no questions asked. A few years later, it was absorbed by Catholic Charities until 2001 when it incorporated an independent nonprofit organization.

Martha's Kitchen provides hot & cold meals and support to needy persons in the following California counties: Santa Clara, Monterey, Santa Cruz, San Benito, Merced and San Mateo.

Martha's Kitchen has become a community kitchen supplying prepared meals to different organizations such as schools, homeless shelters, youth centers, rehabilitation centers, etc.

Martha's Kitchen is a 501(c)(3) organization, with an IRS ruling year of 2001, and donations are tax-deductible.
