The set is really pretty. I love the wooden pieces and little mystical artwork. We have not gone through every trick yet but they are fun to learn. So far my only complaint is kind of a big one.The number guessing trick where you have to add the numbers on the card to know what number the person guessed seems to have printed the numbers on the tablet incorrectly or there are missing numbers on the tablet making the trick fail. Its a fun trick so unless im not doing it correctly, i am disappointed about that. I will come back to edit if I find other tricks to not work properly as well. If I could find the correct number combinations I could simply repaint it or something...

Will take the attention and determination of a tween to figure this out and begin to make progress but it's a nice set.

Love the quality of Melissa and Doug products, and that they're wood.

I just wish that the box had a latch in it so that you can put everything away in the box.

It's definitely more for younger kids, like maybe six-ish. I bought it for my 12-year-old. He likes it, so I guess my opinion doesn't matter much, but I certainly wouldn't recommend it for an older kid. All that said, it's actually pretty high quality for the price, and the tricks are cute and simple. Definitely a good buy for a kid interested in learning a few magic tricks.

This is a great magic set for beginners. The directions are easy to follow and the objects are well made. The only downfall is that the actual box does not have a closing mechanism so the storage is a little tricky.

My grandson enjoyed these tricks. Some tricks could have been better made.

We bought this set for our 5 year old and lost interest very quickly. It is durable and easy to use however. I gave it 4 stars because the box that holds everything doesn't latch making it hard to store stuff in the box as intended.

My 8 year old grandson loves it. He's just a little impatient in getting everything in there so the box will close! Wish there was a hinge on the box to keep it closed and might just try to add one. Everything in the kit is so cool! His dad helped him set everything up but I'm sure a child of that age could figure everything out for himself. Not so sure about a younger child but this is his first magic kit.

Granddaughter is enjoying this box of goodies very much. Wish I could have been more generous Because I normally love all Melissa Doug products. Usually they are indestructible and well made. However, I purchased two of these Magic kits. One for a nephew, and one for my granddaughter. I didn't get to see the condition my nephew's kit was in after opening the gift. Too much going on to even try on Christmas Eve. You know, removing the shrink wrap, ect., might have lost pieces. However ... I was with my granddaughter alone and carefully we opened the kit, and slowly we went over the instructions of each trick, finding two of the items were broken. The sweet looking box that hides a coin from the audience's view. Very cool concept, but it was broken straight out of the box. I know this because I was the first to hold it. The hinge was cracked, and the door hung loose, it was a matter of seconds before it fell off completely. And the magic wand was cracked. Comon how can a magician do his or her act without a wand. I placed it all in a bag for her to take home, as she was so excited to be soon showing her mother and father her new tricks. But, I was so disappointed to tell her dad when he picked her up that two items were already broken. I wanted to be sure she wasn't blamed for breaking them.

My second grader got this at Christmas. I’d say 80 of the tricks are cool and work for a child his age. The magic number cards are already showing wear as the painted numbers are getting harder to read. The box acts as a nice prop and a storage case.

This came as it said it would. All the pieces were there as well as the instructions that go with it. My nephew loved it.

My likes it, but lost interest in it.

Christmas present for the grand daughters....love to play with it...I asked my youngest if she could make herself disappear and she just looked at me and pressed her lips together....good thing it wasn't a Harry Potter wand...lol

Lots of tricks but could use teaching instructions for all tricks and more explicit directions
